The LIRR Stations Department Code of Conduct outlines fundamental workplace expectations for employees serving customers on Long Island. The document establishes core principles around three main areas: professional conduct (respect, punctuality, following chain of command), workplace safety and security (proper equipment use, reporting hazards, emergency protocols), and operational integrity (accurate timekeeping, confidentiality, honesty in all activities).

The code prohibits both serious misconduct such as violence, theft, weapons, and substance abuse, as well as on-duty activities that interfere with job performance including personal phone use, social media, entertainment, and sleeping. Employees are expected to dedicate themselves exclusively to LIRR duties while on the clock, maintain proper communication channels, and report any safety concerns, security breaches, or fraudulent behavior. Violations of these standards may result in disciplinary action up to dismissal.
